Australian work rights

The categories employers ask about, in plain language.

Australian work rights

Every employer must confirm that you are legally allowed to work before you start. That usually means citizenship, permanent residency, or a visa that carries work rights.

Some visas limit hours, employers or the type of work permitted. Conditions attach to the individual visa, not to the job.

Employer sponsorship is a decision made by the employer, based on the role, the occupation list and their own eligibility as a sponsor.

We do not provide immigration advice. Visa eligibility and immigration questions must be confirmed with the relevant Australian employer or a registered Australian migration professional.

This article is general information only. Immigration advice must come from an appropriately qualified Australian professional. We do not guarantee employment, visa approval, sponsorship or placement.
